Marginal Utility presents: CROSS POLLINATION

5 May – 26 June 2023

Opening reception Friday, 5 May from 6 –10 pm

Marginal Utility is proud to present an interim-survey of works by Philadelphia based artist Taji Ra’oof Nahl / TR7.

As a conceptual artist TR7 works through avant-garde modalities of art production & embraces an egalitarian approach to materials. For this exhibition, TR7 will explore the gallery’s spatial dynamics which will serve as an observatory that presents the ongoing creative research into his Calculating Banneker; Apis Project. TR7’s Cross Pollination project will move between four sites; Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild’s Apiary at Awbury Arboretum, The Rotunda & The House of Schlesinger.

The ethos that permeates TR7’s work—openness to the world, commitment to dialogue, collaboration, & human ecology will strike many chords through the exhibition & subsequent programing. This installation surveys the vast collection of lens based media from his two decade career, along with new works created during the length of the exhibition.

Programming will be fed back to the observatory (Marginal Utility) from the various sites. Cross Pollination – four site Sunday, May 14th, Field Trip – Apiary @ Awbury Arboretum 11am -12 pm, Washington Ln. & Ardleigh St. Sunday, May 28th, Rotunda 4pm-7, 4014 Walnut St. Friday, June 2rd @ House of Schlesinger 7pm- 8pm, 3419 Hamilton St.
